We're not "allergic" to any words (although in complete honesty, I don't really like the word "exam"), we're just against the sharing of illegal copyrighted material via the forum. ATARNotes does not want to have a legal battle because of people who want to use it illegally.

Quote
Uploading of copyright material is a bannable offense. Discretion will be used, but we will have a low tolerance to malicious abuse of commercial copyright. ATARNotes cannot afford a lawsuit arising from users posting practice exams and other resources. Please be mindful of this.
...and in my discretion, that includes asking people to PM you regarding such copyright resources via posting on this forum.

Connex Metro I apologise for any any inconvenience caused.

On another note:
Posting
  • Avoid ALL-CAPS in thread titles and posts, unless using a proper acronym (e.g. "VCE", "ATAR").

Thanks :)

And as for the the topic of "discussion" for the exams, plenty of members are doing this on the forum already, feel free to join them if you have any troubles/concerns :)

Basically the difference you're looking at is absorption vs. emission

For example, when a metal atom absorbs light of a specific wavelength, AES will put the resultant light through a prism, which separates the light into its components, which have different wavelengths and frequencies.

In AAS, light of a particular wavelength is emitted and absorbed by metal atoms, and the percentage of light absorbed is indicative of the concentration of the metal in question, which can be compared against standard solutions.

In this way, you can see that AAS can also be used for quantitative analysis, while AES cannot
