Safest approach with sig figs

Hey, just to be as accurate as possible with titration/stoich questions, should i just copy out all the numbers on my calc screen during the calculations and then round it to the correct sig fig at the very end?

I've been told that this isn't necessary and that during calculations just round to 1extra sig fig. e.g if lowest sig fig used is 3, during calculations just write down ans to 4 sig fig, then round to 3 sig fig for the final answer.

I've been finding that I just stick to sigfigs right from the start of the question.
So if there are a few parts to the question, and the initial info is say 2 different figures, both accurate to 3 sig figs, I would follow through all my answers and workings accurate to 3 sigfigs.

Can't you leave the value on your calculator or store the value in your calculator if you need it later on in the question? Saves having to write the extra few numbers.
