A little late: Philosophy Class of 2012

(1/2) > >>

leroy:
Hopefully I am not the only one doing units three and four this year!

How far into the course is everyone?

I just did my Nietzsche sac last monday and have moved on to Weil who I must say is annoying me.

Thoughts/opinions/deep insightful discussion to come!

Porridge4lyf:
Yay for philosophy!  :)

I've also just finished Nietzsche and found him to be really interesting; definitely the most influential for me so far. Argh. I know everyone says that if you can understand Nietzsche you should be able to understand Weil, but she's driving me up the wall too. I find that I can only read her and comprehend her ideas if I'm motivated and concentrated. I'm currently into my third perusal in the hope of cementing her ideas in my head!

I hope you were happy with the Nietzsche SAC!  :)

leroy:
Nietzsche has been the most interesting by far for me! Certainly agree he's been the most influential.

The Freedom of Opinion/Speech section has been perhaps the worst thing I have ever read, and I don't think this is because I've missed something really obvious. Do you/have you garner/ed anything of ANY real substance from that section? I just find it tedious and that it doesn't really achieve anything in places!

I was quite happy with my Nietzsche SAC result! 28/30!!!! Yay for Nietzsche! How was your sac?

Does anyone have any idea what kind of exam/sac results are needed for a 40+ ?

Porridge4lyf:
OH WOW. I just literally finished reading that about five minutes ago. It's terrible and so time-consuming to read.

I guess it's just the whole 'Individuals have opinions and corporations don't kind of thing', because in that way the corporation restricts the individual's view. I guess by extension this would mean that she rejects any kind of party endorsing an opinion? I could be totally wrong here.

Although I get the whole newspaper thing and individuals being responsible for their words.

That's a great result! Congrats. I have not received my results yet, but I was really caught up in the SAC. I was really nervous for no reason and I felt so angry at myself afterwards.

leroy:
So how have you both gone in your SACs?!

I did not go to the Melb Uni day but got the notes from it, were of some use but thought the Weil notes were especially useful.

We've now well and truly started on Descartes and I should be getting my Weil result back on tuesday when I go into school!
I ended up comparing her to Epicurus and ended up bringing Marxism in towards the end as well and I'm fairly confident I nailed it.

I guess its now time to start looking at the questions applicable for Unit 3 from previous exams?!
