Significant Figures

Just wondering, How pendantic are VCAA with significant figures in Physics?

Some of the trial exams are inconsistent with how VCAA would answer it.

An example for me would be using values that are only 2 sig. figs but when looking at the answer, it is to 3 sig. figs. (From the VCAA exam). But a trial had it as 2 sig. figs used, would be 2 sig. figs used in the answer. (The 2 sig. figs was the lowest inaccurate number used as well).

Thanks.  :)

Usually if it isn't specified, it is 2 sigs.

Although best to ask your phys teacher for confirmation before the exam.

VCAA generally doesn't care regarding sig figs for physics, just be logical. Generally 3 is cool.

Doesn't care? :O

It's gonna feel pretty weird being meticulous in the Chemistry exam about sig. figs but Physics, I'd feel like a rebel not being too pedantic about it.

As veg said above, go 3 for accuracy and safety.

3 being something like, say, 4.44?
