Studio Art GAT Scaling.
MJay1993:
Well especially considering how vital folios are to the subject, it is ridiculously harsh if it's true. I guess it's motivation in a way though for you to do your absolute best in the subject, to compensate if there were any ill-effects from the GAT. I really think this is suss though, I would think that it's VCAA's responsibility to pay the examiners considering that they're employed by VCAA to mark folios o.O
Seriously, if this were the case, then schools out in bloody woop woop and a lot of the poorer schools out there in Victoria are screwed. To me at least it doesn't seem right, and you're probably entitled to complain if it does affect your score at all.
I'll get back to you before the end of this coming term for sure, just don't know when I'd have time in my uni timetable to head to my old school and speak to her.

Though i don't do studio arts, i doubt the GAT would have such a tremendous impact, it does affect scaling a little bit, but not much, and based more on overall cohort performance generally

I sure hope it's just a motivation to do well. I mean I try my hardest to keep consistent and high marks, however if the GAT turns my 28/30 into a 25/30, I will be really really pissed off.
It's not right at all, our schools are disadvantaged and we deserve a fair, grounded education just like all the schools in Melbourne CBD.
I will complain if it affects my score dramatically; definitely.
That's okay if you can't, I'll talk to my teacher next week and see how it works and get back to you.

Studio Arts for my school apparently follows a different set of rules in comparison to subjects like English etc. (apparently >:()
starr:
I'm doing studio arts 3/4 this year and I also remember my teacher telling me that they are doing it differently this year. I remember her mentioning the GAT and something else but of course I've forgotten.. But I can say I know what your talking about and I don't want it to affect my folio either!
