Question

Hey guys I'm having a little problem with question 2 in the multiple choice section of the 2008 exam.

The link for the question is here:
http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/studies/chemistry/exams/2008/2008chem1-web.pdf

When I calculate the number of mole of serotonin my calculator gives me 8.52 x 10-15 rather than 8.52 x 10-12, which the assessment report says you should get. Is my calculator faulty, or is there something wrong with the question?

Any help would be appreciated :)

The answer is A. The concentration is 1.5 nanogram per litre. They ask you for the amount in 1 ml. If you use this, the answer turns out to be A. :)

A manufacturer of biscuits claims that the energy content of their biscuits is 21.6 kJ/g. A student wishes to test this claim. He completely burns 0.45 g of a biscuit in a bomb calorimeter. If the initial temperature is 18.6°C and the calorimeter constant is 1150 J/°C, what is the expected final temperature in the calorimeter?

This was in the checkpoints online quiz. Is it even a unit 3 question?

Not for the new course, no. You'll be doing that stuff in unit 4, but it used to be in unit 3 before last year's course change.
