practice questions - help?

Hey everyone
Im doing practice questions for the operations management and im stuck and finding a few difficult   

1. What kinds of things would you say when you are asked to identify and discuss key issues that management would consider regarding the location of a new facility? e.g. what are key issues?

2. Explain and discuss the importance of the stategies of materials management and facilities, design and layout to optimise operations.

3. Identify, define and apply one key performance indicator to assess the effectiveness of the quality manegement system (for the case study provided) - is this ANY key performance indicator that we have previously learnt or what are some examples that i could use?

1. Transportation of goods - relating to costs of moving goods and distributing.
Location for employees such as travel time.
Supply chain impact.

I've got an extra question - What is supply chain management? I'm guessing it's ordering in time for the materials to be used, or something, but I would like a proper definition
