Which of the two would you reckon would be a good elective to choose for second semester in bCom?

WHich one is more interesting/ fun/ worthwhile doing....?

i planning to major in marketing too, but i'm not sure which other major would complement it, since they both do very well...

I wouldn't mind doing management (no maths ^^), but learning to manage businesses/ people seems kind of pointless. On the other hand, finance is much more useful...et etc... but i'm not sure if i can put up with maths....

Would just like you ideas/ opinions so i can decide!!

Thankyouu
2010: TNT (39)

From what i've heard the maths isn't too heavy in finance 1, also i many people have told me management has been very bludgy, but if you're planning to major in it anyway and enjoy it, just do it!

Having said that, finance will be get mathsy very fast from second year on, so if you're really not keen on maths you should steer clear of it. Finance knowledge is very useful though and i suggest you at least so finance1/ business finance just for that basic level of knowledge.

Finance 1 isn't very maths heavy at all in my opinion. Basically just getting the right formula and plugging numbers in, not much more than that.

Just be aware, management doesn't exactly teach you how to 'manage' people. The closest you'll get to that kind of management is by doing OB.

Obviously, it really depends on what subjects you choose from - MGMT30016 Business Communication, MGMT30012 Business Consulting, MGMT30015 Career Management, IBUS30004 Chinese Business and Economy, IBUS30002 Governance and the International Firm, MGMT30004 International Human Resource Management, MGMT30002 Managing in Contemporary Organisations, MGMT30005 Managing Strategic Chang, MGMT30006 Managing Entrepreneurship and Innovation, IBUS30003 Managing Conflict in Global Workplaces, MGMT30008 Organisations, Ethics and Society, MGMT30011 Supply Chain Management, MGMT30013 Strategic Management.

My bad, there actually are a few micro-management type subjects on offer it seems. I graduated from B.Comm in 2010, and management subjects were a bit more restricted. But still the major is more focused on business management as a whole - the stuff you'd do in a consulting role. There's a few micro-management stuff to be found like Managing in Contemporary Organisations....but I haven't done that subjects so not completely sure what it entails.
