Hey everyone. is spelling assessed in  chemistry? a question asked for the response "Ether bond" and an Eather bond by mistake. or is it ok as long as its not ambiguous?
2011: Biology [35 --->36]
2012 raw aims: english[30] Chemistry[35] methods[35] further [45] physics:[35]

Yes and no. General spelling isn't assessed, obviously (it's a chemistry exam not an english exam!), but I would imagine correct spelling of chemical terminology is necessary - hence, the above "eather" slip up would probably lose a mark.

Yeah, I'm with Aurelian.

My Chemistry teacher last year, an assessor, said that correct spelling for Chemistry related terms was necessary to acquire full marks. This included some of those lengthy chemical compounds - luckily most of the difficultly spelt ones are either given in the Exam or in the data booklet ;)
