Is the mid-year exam easy to finish on time?

For anyone who's already done Unit 3 Physics, exactly how pressed for time were you during the mid-year exam? What would you recommend - that I rush or that I take my time?

I was really bad at physics, and even I found that finishing it early was pretty easy. Most people I know had at least 10 mins to spare :)

How did you score in physics if you don't mind me asking?

I had 20-25ish mins to check over it in the end, but a fair few of my classmates were against the clock to finish the mid-year exam last year (even some who did score high). So really it comes down YOU, as HarveyD said, time yourself, then add say 10 mins due to exam pressure e.t.c. (In practice I was doing them in 50 mins, in the exam that turned into 1hr 10mins, I purposely took my time a bit more). Try not to rush through unless you know that you will be short on time, you want a little bit of time to look over in the end and pick up the mistakes.

Good Luck :)

I'll be perfectly honest, my SAC scores (which were close to perfect in each unit) saved me big time :D I got A+ (low - unit 3), A (high - unit 4) and A+ (high if not full - SACs) which gave me a 41 raw somehow.

HAHAHAH if you thought you were really bad at physics, you should have seen my subject scores for all my subjects!

I dunno where VCAA gave them my marks from, I was pretty convinced I lost like at least 15-20 marks on each exam, definitely didn't deserve my mark.

Partly the reason why I hat physics, it's so shit. People who do no study (like me) can pull out a 40+ score while those who did sincere study fall short, doesn't happen with too many subjects but physics is one of those 'flawed' subjects imo.

How would you go about decreasing the time it takes you to finish the paper?  Is it possible to improve timing within the next two and a bit days?  I usually only have 5 mins to spare when I do a practice exam.

Full marks for the SACs, you must have been good though. Unless you owned MHS without trying (which wouldn't actually be unexpected).

Unit 3 in my opinion can be more quickly finished than Unit 4 in terms of the exams. You should have about 5-10 minutes even if you did one practice exam.

Two of our unit 3 sacs were take-home = full marks and the other was a test or something which was pretty straight forward with a good cheat-sheet.

I honestly can't remember what the sacs were for unit 4, although I remember that cheat sheets were allowed for them, which just makes them infinitely more easy imo.

Wish I had take home sacs in my year 12, such easy marks to get from that.

i hate take home sacs. would much prefer each one to be a test
learn hardly anything doing the EPI and folio relevant to the course but you use pretty much 2 full weekends on one SAC

Not really, considering everyone in the class will find it easy. And then there will be the few "try hards" who will go to great lengths to get a good score, be it help from a tutor, etc. i prefer in class tests because they dont take up your time, and it really shows whos better so to speak

Why you can get easy marks, working on it with a tutor, classmates, internet...
