Experimental/Operational (Research) Hypothesis

What exactly is supposed to be mentioned in each, and is there a specific order? I know Experimental is less specific and does not operationalise the variables. Are we supposed to mention the population group in the experimental?

My teacher told me that VCAA is not allowed to ask us about Operationalised Hypothesis in Unit 3.  They will be allowed to in the Unit 4 exam though.

a research hypothesis is actually the simplified version of an operational hypothesis. So in a hypothesis, the population is mentioned, the independent variable and the dependent variable (a direction is given to the DV e.g higher or lower). When you operationalise the IV and DV, you specify exactly how the IV is being manipulated and exactly how the DV is being measured

You don't get penalised if you do operationalise the IV + DV though.

Technically they aren't suppose to assess us on operationalising the hypothesis in unit 3, but you definitely won't lose marks if you do it which they've mentioned in previous assessor reports.
