Havent started any practice exams, only have 4 to do anyway.

Thanks

Yes you can!! Seriously! I know it sounds so cliché but don't tell yourself you aren't capable, positive thinking does wonders :)
Chances are if you've been to majority of your classes, you probably know a lot more than you think.

Plus, remember who you're against. Out of all the people who do psychology in the state I am HIGHLY doubtful that even a fraction would say they are confident in the whole course. Of course there's a few students who will have probably been doing practice exams since the start of the term, but they make up such a small percentage of the overall psych student population it really isn't relevant.
The fact that you're even on this website shows you care about your score, which is more than half the state can say.

Just don't get down on yourself now :) less than a week to go and this will all be over! Keep revising and do those 4 practice exams you have. If you want more, print the VCAA ones from old study designs but ignore the parts about learning, etc. Practice makes perfect so going through the VCAA papers are definitely the most useful tool for you right now.

And for the record, I'm in a similar position to you - I've been really unwell the past few weeks and haven't gone to school or studied. Only began practice exams three days ago so we're not far off each other.

Good luck :) you can do it!!

yeah - I'm a bit stressed too. The course is overwhelming, especially when you try to root out the details.

How's everyone's understanding of brain research methods? That's the area I'm struggling with the most.  :(

Ella - brilliant motivation! nicestllmao follow her advice!

And probs here just a note that you guys are lucky that you only have to remember half a year's worth of work...I shudder to think what it'd be like with a whopping 2.5 hour end of year next year when there is no midyear...

I think I'm ok with the research methods - have made a good set of notes I can follow.

They generally only ask 1 question on brain research methods; they didn't even ask any last year (2011) however!

I wonder if it'll be an extended response...

That would definitely be a worse-case scenario for me...

My teacher said earlier this year they were thinking about cutting some of the content in unit 3 Psych, so who knows.
Edit: I see the study design is already up for next year, so maybe not

How's everyone's understanding of brain research methods? That's the area I'm struggling with the most.  :(

I used to be pretty shaky on them but as revision I made Venn diagrams (I split it into fMRI/MRI, PET/SPECT, TMS/EBS and left CT by itself). I found it really useful and I'm getting the marks for brain research methods on the prac exams now. Might be worth a try! Give it a shot    :)

You don't remember the course you understand the course. Sure some people might claim that Psychology is a rote-learning subject, but if you learn Psychology through understanding the concepts instead of memorizing random shit you'll find you understand a lot more.

I pretty much haven't done nothing for Psychology throughout the year, and have gotten rank 1 in SACs and fairly well on my practice exams simply because I understand the concepts. There are people in my class who have studying all year and barely get into the Bs..

This applies to any subject. The reason why I'm struggling with Chem is because I don't have deep understanding.. I can tell you what an equivalence point or what qualities you need in a primary standard but I don't really have that deep understanding to tell you the big picture. Deep understanding trumps rote-learning anyday, just remember that.

And will save you a lot more time as you are not wasting your time remembering but rather gaining understanding.
