Asparagine has an amide group, which is not basic nor acidic.
It does not ionise (the side group), so it is a zwitterion at neutral pH
Erm, it came up in my SAC and I'm pretty sure that in an acidic environment the NH2 groups ionise to NH3+ so it has two positive charges and migrates

No, as Jason said, Asparagine has an amide group which do not display acidic or basic behavior.

asparagine has an amine group, not an amide group...  so it will display basic behaviour

Could we call a truce and say it has an Amide linkage and an Amino/amine group? :/

Oh sorry, I did not make it clearly that I was referring to the side group of the zwitterion, and missed the bit where it says "in an acidic environment" >.<

I've always been told that the NH2 in the side chain and the non side chain NH2 ionise in basic and acidic environments.
Not sure about the Zwitterion.  I think that more people said side chains don't ionise in a neutral pH so I'm going to go with that and PRAY it's not on the exam.

In the side chain, asparagine has an amide group, not an amino group. You may be confusing it with arginine?
