There is no set number of marks that you can lose. It's your ranking within your cohort and your exam performance that matter.

For example, one of my friends who did legal last year dropped 3 marks in sacs all year (197/200 raw) and got 136/140 (68/70) on the exam and ended up with a 46.

Another one of my friends dropped about 20-30 marks in sacs all year but managed to get 139/140 (69.5/70) on the exam and got a 50.

Yes, your sac marks will make up 50% of your study score.

dropped around 16 marks whole year for sacs (184/200), but had rank 1 for class.
Not sure what I got for the exam, but not complaining.

At the end of the day all you can do is to try your best to maintain a very high ranking for SACS.

However there is a guy in my class who has lost only 1 mark I think so hes on a 99/100 :/ I get really scared, the better other people do the crapper you get, because you get ranked.

Ignorance is bliss.

Let me put it this way: Get 100% on the exam and you're pretty much guaranteed a 50 regardless of your SACs.

regardless of the fact that you have lost a total of 8 marks overall in unit 3 (out of 100)....what if I lose more for outcome 2?

How many marks you lose is irrelevant. Get 5/100 for the whole unit and it's the same as getting 100/100 if you're ranked first. Just do your best and then kill the exam - you don't *want* your teacher to give you all high marks anyway, because then people won't try as hard to improve and capture that final elusive mark. Thinking you're doing as well as you need to do is far more dangerous than losing marks.

I've always felt this is the way to go. Aim to do as well as you can in your internal assessments, but don't let any despair from a poor SAC mark distract you from the goal of getting 100% on the exam, if a 50 is what you desire.

I also got 92/100 for unit 3
Though i think 1 or maybe even two people are ahead of me in my year level
I really want to get around 45 because legal is one of my stronger subjects!

Don't worry, you can afford to lose a fair bit of marks. I lost around 20-30 marks overall, averaged around 85% on sacs (school marks) and still got a decent study score! Study really hard for the exam - that's what REALLY counts. Don't stress out too much however do try to maintain a relatively decent sac ranking in your class - but it's not the end of the world if you're not 1st or 2nd rank. I was probably ranked 4th or 5th in my class.

I will add: your school sac marks will CHANGE. mine went from 80-90-ish to 100 if I can remember correctly. The scale depending on exam performance.

People in my school last year were worried that if they lost more than 5 marks out of the 200 overall they were almost unable to get a 50. Of course you still can, but honestly I think you should be well over 90% in SACS to have a shot at a 50 for Legal.
