Getting a 50 in BM

Do you have to get 100% in all your SACs to get a 50 in bus man?
I've got a couple of full mark sacs and one 90% for which I did quite poorly relative to the rest of my class.
Do I still have a chance at getting a 50?
Hope so!
Thanks  :)

No you don't have to get 100%, you're still in with a chance :)

Okay thanks!
So what do you need to get (approximately) to score a 50 then?
Do you have to be ranked first?

I didn't do BM, so I might be a little off :)

But being rank 1 would be very good, as well as getting 100% on the exam (or close to that).

Depends on your cohort, so the answer to this question cannot be definite, usually it resides around being first but you could in a good cohort do it with say rank 3 even.

If you get 100% on the exam, you will get a SS of 50.

Not necessarily, but I guess those who usually ace the exams are highly ranked which you may have been implying.

Golden's right, especially given that for BM, the exam is only worth 50% of your Study Score anyways, so getting 100% on the exam means less than on subjects where the Exam(s) are worth 66% (Sciences, Maths...etc.)

Essentially if you're rank 1 and you get 100% you will get a 50, 100% in both Exam and SACs, but in reality, one or two marks off in the exam is usually still ok for a 50.

This is true.

However, it is also possible to get a 50 even if you're not ranked number one in your cohort.

Let me give you an example:

Last year, my friend was rank 1 in a strong cohort for legal studies. He dropped 3 marks in the whole year (197/200 raw) and dropped 3 marks on the exam (67/70). He got a SS of 46.

Another friend of mine dropped 20-30 marks throughout the year and was by no means ranked in the top few in the cohort. This person got 69.5/70 on the exam and a 50.

That's because Haileybury is one of the strongest schools in the state, so the difference in SAC marks in the end would have been small

Wut?

Haileybury's academic standards have been dropping so much recently...

We used to be very strong academically and although we are still quite strong - we are pretty much negligible compared to our former glory.
