Furthermore, Emus do not fly, you are a flying emu, that makes you doubly abnormal

No, there's two distinct groups, those who wake up early and those who wake up late, you cannot average across the two groups otherwise it would not make sense, each group would be outliers to the other. So, you're still not normal. And oh, if you take the average, there is no "range" for you to be in, so you can't be in any range.

I don't quite get why you can't find the average (mean) time of wake up here. I wasn't referring to range as in math range >.<

what time is normal to wake up?

6-9, 10 maybe (i'm generalising)

Hmm i dont know, but this term we had a so-called sleep expert come in and take up a methods lesson (yuuuus! XD) to tell us about the importance of sleep. He said that every hour of sleep before midnight is better than every hour of sleep after midnight... Worth more or something xD so if you can get yourself out of bed early, go for it?
My body clock is screwed up. -.- at night, im never motivated, in the morning, im lazy? When do i study? Lol.
My alarm clock is cute though. It has a little rooster that bobs its head. The ticking was driving me mad so now its just for display.
Happy enough after one hell of a year.

No, I am not. Jelly is a mixture of substances including gelatine, water and occasionally flavouring and colour.

I also believe that jelly is a form of food. I am sorry, but you are mistaken, I believe this is due to your abnormal sleep patterns.

Maybe if you adopted one of the sleep patterns outlined here, you might stop mistaking me for a type of food.

woke up at 4pm today - rediculous.
Been absolutely sleep deprived this week due to cramming of the further maths sac, so it was nice to sleep in.
During school days, in bed @ 12 am, Up at 7:00

I don't quite get why you can't find the average (mean) time of wake up here. I wasn't referring to range as in math range >.<

Ok, basically, what we have observed here is that there are a group of people who wake up extremely early and a group of people who wake up extremely late, both with relatively small standard deviations. This suggests a type of distribution which is known as a Bimodal distribution, it would look similar to two normal distributions joined together.

This would look something like this:

Say that we refer to this distribution as the distribution of the continuous random arable X, bimodally distributed with Y (people waking up early) having the probability of alpha and Z (people waking up late) having the probability of 1-alpha. Y and Z, hence, are unimodal continuous random variables, where 0<alpha<1, this is known as the mixture co-efficient.

Thus, when you want to find the mean, you will find the mean of the individual unimodal continuous distributions, otherwise your mean will make no sense. Your mean will neither belong to the group waking up early or the group waking up late. You can't force a bimodal distribution into a unimodal one.

To answer your second question, it does not matter, range, in plain English means from A to B. If you only have one value (which is your so called mean), there is no range to begin with, thus, how can you say that your wake up time falls within any sort of range. If I were to tell you, "I have a range of pens, from black to blue", it means I have many pens, I cannot have a range of pens if I only have one pen, just like you cannot have a range of values, if you only have one value. Thus, your wake up time cannot be within that non-existent range.

The first time was funny, now it's not.

Back to discussing sleep plz

OT: I sleep at ~11.30 and wake at 8am most days. If I actually go to my 9am class I get up at 7, but otherwise I keep a pretty steady sleep cycle *smug*

You could find the mean if the major topic heading was something along the lines of "Average time people wake up".

Personally, I don't see how you guys find that funny anyway back to topic be4 this gets locked, I usually get up about 9-10 weekends sometimes 11.

OMG No.

You will still have a group of people who believe the average wake up time is around 7am, and another group who will believe it is around 3pm or whatever, because it is a bimodal distribution, what basic detail do you not get that keeps you so obsessed with this average?

MY FKN GOD, THIS ISN'T ABOUT WHO BELIEVES WAKING UP LATE OR EARLY IS THE CORRECT TIME. SO FAR NO1 HAS DIRECTLY SAID 'oh hey 3AM is the normal time to get up'. WHAT DON'T YOU GET ABOUT THAT?

Both of you seem equally obsessed with this average :P
