science at melbourne university

The prerequisites for science at melbourne are =>English/ESL,  and one of Biology, Chemistry or Physics. Clearly in ATAR of 91 (i think).
I satisfy the course requirement except I'm not doing Mathematical Methods/Specialist Mathematics....:(
I am however doing both chem and bio (successfully) "A" for bio mid year "B+" for chem mid year
Now for my question..
Assuming i get the required ATAR can i do something to compensate for the maths, like a maths bridging course over the summer at uni or some extra maths subject or anything! :'(
I have completed units 1-2 methods and im eligible for SEAS so might that help me get in?

Thanks

Sorry to say this to you, but you can't do Bachelor of Science directly cause you don't meet the maths prereq. What you can do, is:
Become a student at Melbourne Uni: like, Bachelor of Arts, or something like that. Then do a maths bridging course for your breadth, and trying to transfer to Bachelor of Science in second semester.

Is it possible to do the maths bridging subject during the summer so as not to waste a semester doing another course. Also say i do another course at Melbourne like arts or environments what are the prospects of being able to transfer to science after completing the maths bridging subject?
thank you

It won't be time completely wasted as you can get credit for those subjects you do in the other degree, for when you transfer over to science (arts subjects can become breadth credits in science). Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm quite sure if you transfer mid-year and have a higher ATAR than the clearly-in, you should be a great chance since they look at mainly your ATAR.

I've seen unilearn (http://www.unilearn.net.au/) mentioned on the UoM website. You can do it anytime online. It's fairly expensive. Methods is not an easy course, its definitely not easy to teach yourself online. Even the uni very is fairly condensed down. I know a fair few people failed the Monash one. You're getting people who haven't done math since year 10 and even then it was fairly easy-ish and chucking them into methods.

The arts option is also a very good idea.

Barring that, monash science does not require you to do methods, the uni's are both in the GO8 and probably the two best in the state.

Nothing will be wasted if you do arts for a semester - you will still finish exactly the same time as you would have if you started with science.

Ohh that's Great!  :D
what about my course preferences, would their be any point having science at Melbourne on the list (to emphasize interest) or should i just have Arts as number 1?

No point putting in preferences for courses you don't meet the prerequisites for as you won't be considered for them.

Itll be a waste of a slot as you will not be considered for a b.sci if you do not complete methods 3/4 with at least 25, even if you get 99.95 as your atar.
