Well, I'm assuming you are also looking through previous exams by VCAA?

best ones (from most difficult to relatively easy) is: kilbaha, neap, insight, tssm, mav then heffernan..  starting trials now wouldnt be the "best" idea.. start by doing questions from the book, then exams and take note of all the mistakes you're making :D best times to study for exam to fit in 40-60 trials is 5-6 weeks before :D
2011 : Further [42]

2012 : English [38] - Methods [44] - Specialist [40] - Physics [40] - Chemistry [36] - UMAT > 76%ile

2013 : Science at UoM

You're right Memz, but it also depends on what you're aiming for. If you just want to get 40 (42 will scale down to this), depending on how good you are with maths, you only need to do 20-40 trials, which will give you enough time to focus on other subjects. However, as easy as Further may seem, don't get complacent! I didn't do any work for it and I only got 39. I can't complain, I got what I deserved, but if I could go back...well it was boring so I probably wouldn't but I do regret not putting in the effort. Work hard. As Memz said, solve questions from the book. Solve questions from other books. Then move on to trials. Always take note of your mistakes, and make sure to read the questions and what is being asked of you carefully. Good luck.

i only did about 10 commercial papers and got a 50 so you really dont HAVE to do so many trials. For further, having a solid knowledge of the course aswell has doing the past VCAA exams are enough to get any score IMO. Theres only so many questions they could ask in further.

yeah true.. but it also depends on the modules you do.. i mean i did the number patterns, graphs and relation and matrices.. and mod 3(graphs and relations) had 2 questions last year which was relatively "difficult".. but yeah, 50 is a solid score :D

Hi I am a year 10 student currently doing an accelerated Math program, however, if I achieve an average of 60% for exams, tests and entrance test (highly likely, I am not snobby), I will do Further 3+4 in year 11. I hear the SACs in Further as easy, but the exam is tricky. Any thoughts, advice, etc?

When you have 100% SAC scores can you drop any marks during the exams for a 50?

having 100% is equal to 50% if you're top ranked, to get a 50 you need to rank 5> i imagine with 100% on both exams

Score is unfortunately irrelevant in VCE, it's your rank that matters more. Of course, if you have 100%, you will have rank 1, but you're on the same level playing field as someone who holds rank 1 with only 80%, for example. I'm rank 1 and currently sitting on 59/60 (only done 2 SACs at this stage).

Over the past couple of years, you have been able to drop 1 mark and still achieve a 50. The difference between someone who gets a 45 and someone who gets a 50 is really small (generally at this range, 1 mark lost is 1 study score from 50 lost). So that being said, if you manage a 45, you are to be commended.
