ACCT10003 Accounting Processes and Analysis
ECON10003 Introductory Macroeconomics
ECON20003 Quantitative Methods 2

Hello, I'm thinking of enrolling into some of these subjects this semester but I need to advice before doing so..

Can anyone tell me what ACCT10003 is really like? In the handbook it states that there's a 3500 assessment, is this a group assignment?

With ECON10003 and ECON20003, I did their prerequisites (intro to micro, quan methods 1) at another Uni with equivalent units and got credited. But the issue is that I've already forgotten a lot of stuff from those units that I did so I'm a bit worried of not understanding even the basics.

Thanks.

Hi, currently doing both apa and had a mate complete qm2 last semeter (i'm doing intro econometrics myself). Apa is a breeze and if you have completed a basic foundation course in accounting (even at vce level) you will be fine. There is a group assignment involved, but its only worth 15%
so no biggie.

Qm2's syllabus is based on ideas found in qm1 so it really up to the individual if they feel conident in their ability regarding statistics. I myself got a credit for qm1 from another uni before enrolling in econometrics - havent looked at statistics for over half a yr as well - but judging from my first tute - they do go over most of the concepts taught in the 1st yr subject.

Intro macro is relatively straight forward, so i wouldn't worry about yiur rustiness in micro. As long as you remember supply/demand theory - you'll do fine when they teach you about macro-economic theory.

The group assignment in APA is worth 35%, not 15%. There is an individual assignment worth 5% and participation of 10%.

Courious to know on what basis, in week one of the semester, does a current student make an assessment that a subject is a breeze?

I looked over the course, the syllabus and the readings in the textbook. I have spoken to friends who have completed the dubject. The concepts learnt in APA were almost identical to a subject I did at RMIT but because it was taught in the point view of a business analyst and not as an accounting professional, I was not credited for the subject. As such, I am required to complete this subject in order to apply for a CA/CPA accreditation.

Who knows, I may be wrong about the difficulty regarding the subject but

BTW, you are right about the 35% assessment. I apologise for the mistake as I was thinking about a different subject.

okayyy.. from someone who actually have done the subject! I wouldn't say it is an EASY subject! The content may seem comprehensible and that most of them may seem like common sense, such as, how to improve process and prevent losses. The group assignment is crucial, not many groups get high marks...high marks meaning around 80%. Finally, must need to know how to answer the questions in detail and that you think you've covered what you've learnt and are somehow similar to the tutorial answers. Last but not least, make good use of tutorials, as the lectures itself can be revised on lectopia. The book....ummmmm don't think there was reference for it. All the best! :)

ohhh... for Intro Macro....you would be fine, thought micro was a prerequisite but if you are studious and willing to learn. The micro concepts are still used in macro a bit... but the who subject is pretty different. Micro was dealing with the firm itself, firm graphs, cost and revenue for monopoly ,perfect competitions and such. Where as Macro we look at the whole economy such as GDP, Monetary policy, Fiscal policy and other factors that affect GDP (Keynesian Model) and growth (solow-swan model). So it shouldn't be a problem and most people I know enjoy learning macro :)
