I have completed all the first year core units in Monash Caulfield's bachelor of business and now transfering to Melb's bachelor of commerce.

Just wondering if I do get the credits from my previous studies at Monash, how much difference would there be between Melb's and Monash's first year core units? Just want to know so that if they're not entirely identical then I might need to do some catch-ups. : )

My classmate did exactly what you did - he transferred from monah b. business in berwick to melb. Got credits forneverything he did as most undergrad subjects from one uni is comparable to another uni. (i transferred from rmit last yr and also got credits for all my subjects as well).

Be careful about where thy get credited however, some subjects that may be a level one subject at one uni may be a level 2 subject at another.  It happened to both my classmate and me - which meant we both had to redo the level one subject in order to complete our degree. Pain in the ass but at least it is a gpa/ wam booster.

if you get like a 98+ atar, but didnt do methods or spesh so you cant go to uom, does that mean, you can do 1 semester of bbus at monash, get good grades, then transfer to commerce at uom, and major in something like economics or actuarial studies, AND get a credit transfer, even though you didnt do methods?

Unfortunately, if you did not do methods (or spesh) you will not be able to gain entry into Melb Uni B.Comm even if you had an atar of 99.95. (I was told this by the Commerce course adviser when I was back at RMIT looking to transfer into Melb). Can be easily fixed though, as most Unis offer a methods equivelant foundation course as an elective (just make sure Melb will accept it and you're set).

My answer to the question about gaining credits from other Unis is a bit more sketchy; as most generic undergrad degrees (ie. B.Comm/B.Bus, B.Arts, B.Sci) are almost identical across the board (especially in 1st year subjects) - I would say that you should be able to gain credits for most things. There will always be exceptions and in the end - it is up to the respective course co-ordinators who look at your application to decide whether they accept it (as a substitute for their subject) or not.

BTW, just curious. Are those target study scores in your banner scaled or raw?

Cos, if those are raw, you'll def get 99.95. =D

Lmao they're my raw aims, my parents want me to go to Oxford/Cambridge/Lse, and the atar floor is something like 98.9, so I figured I may as well aim high hahas ;D but if that doesn't work idm just doing science or something at Melbourne lmao
