I tell people my results depending on who im telling. If they dont really care about competition and can give me emotional comfort when im feeling low about my mark then I dont mind saying it

Although whenever I got an A~A+ I wouldnt talk about it since I dont feel the need to be congratulated to secure my pride

I had one friend in my Japanese class who was terrible since she was so competitive in our tiny class of 7 and it was the only subject that I was "beating" her in. Every time we had our SAC results returned to us she would say "WHAT'D YOU GET?! TELL ME TELL ME" and would try to see the letter grade through my paper or look from the corner of her eye.

Originally I didn't mind showing her but she became competitive later on and would go "YAY SAME MARK, HI-FIVE" or "aww you beat me!!! grr..." (she was immature by trying to be all childish when talking) but it got to the point that if I didn't show her my grade she would know that it was because I may not have done as well as her so I was trapped in having to tell her my mark to put her in her place.

but yeah, just try to avoid those type of people if you can and share your marks to those who can be mature about it

PS. still sucks how my friend beat me by 1 SS in Japanese although I did better than her in SACs dsajkdjsakldjsalk *grumble*

On the extreme side, my friend said that one of her classmates actually demanded to see and read my friend's school report.

Those kinds of people are actually...wow...I can't even describe it.

Why have I never seen these ultracompetitive people in my life, is it really that bad at the top tier schools like MHS...etc.?

Not MHS. Some select few only.

And it's not just in MHS, many of the top tier schools. And even in our course, there are a few still on their VCE competitive ways.

Really? I didn't notice THAT much competition. If anything it's quite subtle.

Hmm, we had one competitive dude in my year at school. The funniest thing was in year 10 when we had this random maths test which was insanely long and we thought we had 2 periods to do it, but we only had 1. Anyway. So we get this back (it was out of 100) and most of our class didn't do so well :/ because we thought we had 90 minutes but we only had 45. Even the best guy in my class got 89 or something. Then this competitive guy gets his score, which was 95. He goes around to every single person in the class and asks "how did you go?" "<insert number between 0 and 94>" "oh i beat you, i got 95" or something.

Then finally he comes round to me when the teacher gives me my test back and was like "hey i got 95, how did you go?" I just read my score and told him - "oh - 99."

His expression was priceless.

I don't really have a problem with people asking me, it doesn't bother me too much unless they're going to be a dick about it. I've always asked people how the went - not what grade they got :p But if it's a better friend then i'll probably ask them what mark they got lol just because we're all supportive of each other no matter what we get :)

Generally, I don't mind sharing my marks when people ask but I hate it when people get an ego boost from getting better than me. I do ask people how they went but I just take whatever answer they give.  8)

lmao i go to a select entry/top tier school
nearly everyone tells other people about their marks, at least my group of friends, we brag to each other when we do well, and support other people when they do poorly, its all just words though, we dont bag anyone excessively if they do shit but if we both get excellents(85+) then we trash talk whoever got lower then us just for fun, we dont get protective of marks, or even really care about them amongst peers(when it comes to parents its a diff story)
even people outside of our group tell people about their scores, what they got wrong, etc, and people who usually get badish marks, jump up and down and brag about 90%+, everyone just lets them, good for them they did well, our schools stats will improve as a result
noone really gets offended or brags to the point of a nuisance, maybe its just my school though
the only people who DONT tell their scores are the quiet super nerds who just say
"oh i did bad"
"how bad"
"i failed"
"oh that sucks man, dw ******* got way lower than you and hes jumping up and down with happiness"
"mate i only got 98%, fuu i was expecting 100 *punches locker* du ma"
