Hi all,
Is Vce Accounting necessary to do well in commerce, majoring in finance and accounting?

TrueTears:
Nope, I didn't do anything related to commerce before my commerce and I think I'm going just fine, rather than doing VCE accounting, I think having a strong mathematical background is quite important to do well in a finance major.

taiga:
Nah just be competent with maths and logical thinking and you're fine

Not necessary. But it'd really help to do well on the compulsory first year accounting unit at uni.
That'd be Principles of Accounting at Monash, or ARA at Melbourne.
Cause I can tell you man, 30% fail rate for the one at Monash.

Yep, only helps for the first 6 weeks of the intro to accounting unit. But it's manageable without it.
