Hi,
I am doing summary notes for Unit 4 Outcome 2 and am not sure exactly what we need for this Dot point from the study design. My textbook has a lot of info and I don't know what I should be using. Do I need to specifically look at:
- the role of the jury in criminal cases
- the role of the jury in civil cases
- Jury verdicts
????
Under factors that influence their composition what do I need to look at?
- Selection of jurors
- Liability for jury service (disqualified, ineligible, excused)
- Empanelling the jury
- Jury in a criminal case (selection and challenges)
- Jury in a civil case (selection and challenges)
- Role of the foreperson
??????

What do I need to know?
Any help would be very appreciated...
Thank you

Yeah, it's all a bit vague on role of the jury - luckily it's only worth 1-4 marks on the exam (based on past).

Outline what the jury does vs what the judge does (both crim and civil), and know the difference between majority and unanimous verdicts (latter is probably a more likely SAC question than exam one, though).

"Factors" refers to everything that could stop you sitting in that jury box. So...
Liability: on electoral roll, disqualified, ineligible (x2 types), excused (x2 types) by juries commissioner;
Empanelment: request to be excused by judge, random selection in courtroom, challenges (x2 types).

That should cover the exam, but for the SAC - I'd always get my notes into shape then run them past my teacher.

I wish I knew more definitely what detail was required, too!
