Colour coordinate topics and put it on the back of your shower door (change after every few days).
Constantly revise over them.
Rewrite it all in your own handwriting.

Asking why things are the way they are, relating them to other topics, consistently revising and summarising your notes, making cue cards etc.

Oh, and the biggest one, questions. Learning by doing is better than just reading notes.

I have found that a great way to ensure that you remember things is through actually understanding everything you are trying to memorise and knowing why something is the answer as opposed to just trying to commit it to memory.

ie. Knowing why the jury system is used (advantages).

edit: burbs bet me to it.

Write a book, I kid you not, if you can write a book on something, you understand it :) - I've learnt so much more by writing, explaining and teaching in general.

“Memory: We retain: 10 percent of what we read; 20 percent of what we hear; 30 percent of what we see •50 percent of what we hear and see; 70 percent of what we say; 90 percent of what we say and do”

And i agree with you paul, iv tried this many times and it works really well because you know the material that you are writing so it makes it easier for you to remember it later. Trust me, im doing this right now i literally have a note book for every subject which i use for revision, every week i write the most vital aspects of what i learnt during class. YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY TRY IT!!!

I'm currently putting together comprehensive notes for Business Management as a way to revise over everything on the study design before starting trial exams and I'm finding it quite useful. Definitely recommend this to anyone!
