Hey Guys, I was just doing some revision and still feel unsure about this question:

Which of these consequences tends to be more effective: reinforcement or punishment? Why?

Help would be greatly appreciated! :)

I had this question in a SAC (getting it back tomorrow so I can post the answer if no-one else replies by then) and I answered that reinforcement is more effective, as punishment can result in unwanted side-effects such as aggression, and in addition, can act as positive reinforcement if the punisher is not appropriate, thus having the opposite effect that was intended. I won't be 100% sure until tomorrow though; hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Edit: Didn't get it given back today
