Well, that was the Thushan of the past, from what I've heard, you're getting quite used to..."that sort of environment" these days ;) not that I've witnessed anything personally but you know :P

Are you or will you be 18 by the end of the year? Or would that be irrelevant for your situation?
I'm going to the Gold Coast for schoolies, I have 1 curry friend and he convinced his parents to let him go with lots of arguing and such. He just told them its a reward for the end of the year, he needs more freedom as he is 18 and that they are trying to shelter him too much and should let him go out and have fun.

Nah, I disagree, it's not just the negative stigma, it's the fact that things actually happen on Schoolies. I personally just don't understand why the trip just can't be postponed a few weeks.

I think trust between parents and children is something which builds up over time. If you're someone who has your parents' trust and they let you go out without too much question...etc. then schoolies would be a reasonable ask, but for parents who pretty much have sheltered you and locked you up all your life, asking them to SUDDENLY let go of you and let you go on schoolies can be tough.

Like there comes to a point in your life where your parents don't really give a damn about what you do because they know that you're able to take care of yourself. Obviously that time varies for every parent and it comes from when you are able to show them that you're responsible, so take it easy and you'll be aite.

And my parents and sister put their foot down. :P

You know, your life could be so markedly different had you went on MedCamp :(

LOL curry parents, just grin and bear it.

You'll thank them for putting their foot down (to an extent) later when you're older.

Hahaha, this is a good life philosophy, not just to do with parents, but to do with rules in general :P there will come a time where you are thankful that certain rules/laws are in place.

I personally just don't understand why the trip just can't be postponed a few weeks.

That's the only week where my whole group is not busy. Otherwise everyone has plans with their families, going away, etc.

I would have really liked to have spent a week kicking back with my biddies but I don't think it's going to work out. Oh well, I'll live.

YOLO?

In all seriousness though, I don't really see the appeal in schoolies personally. Seems like a disaster waiting to happen and I'd rather spend the next three months (three years if you're doing Arts) doing crazy stuff.

YOLO?
You can't justify everything with that.

heres my take on it.
your young. your 18. your in an enviroment with other people your age. you wish to experiment, have fun... etc etc
some are going to be hot.
thus, you enjoy yourselves.
(informally. you wanna root someone bad, so you fuck some babe cause everyone else is as well)
yolo.

- not my thoughts. but it seems to be the general jist haha!

Sex culture, for the guys...not so much for the girls :P

for you ;) not for other girls haha believe me!
