Spiral Binding ATAR Notes Study Guides?

Just wondering if people would feel that spiral binding cheapens the look of the books too much.

We've had quite a number of people express interest in having the books spiral bound instead of perfect bound. The advantage is that you can use it like a workbook. Especially for Physics and Chem (and Maths next year ) you won't have to be smoothing down the spine the whole time.

Let me know your thoughts!

I think students would value the practicality aspect over the professionalism in this case, I'm all for spiral bounding for the larger books of the series.

I don't know if people are going to bring our practice books in as bound references? Seems like an awfully inefficient way of looking up information

I agree, but people seem to take in textbooks all the time. I wouldn't be surprised if some people wanted to. Anyway, it's just something to consider, because it might mean people might not buy your book. For me, neither solution is good because I'm left-handed, so I would either be folding down the spine or having my hand rest on the spiral bound, but I've gotten used to it now. Just some food for thought.

spiral binding would be much easier! I find that when I'm doing problems from the book its very hard to write on the left side of the page when you get to mid-way in the book so spiral binding solves this

Spiral binding sounds a good idea, it'd make it easy to detach the tests if you really wanted to as well. I don't think it'd look too bad, I'm guessing that stripey bit on the cover design would be extended a bit etc.

Pages are kind of detachable, but they've explicitly said it's okay.

If the maths books are similar to the chem book, I imagine it'd be awkward to use the book as a bound reference though. I guess it'd be similar to using the textbook as a bound reference though, which is fairly common.

Really, I'm pretty sure the collection of past exams my school gave us was spiral bound and people took that into the exam...

My workbook is spiral binding and one of the problems I have after a few months is that the spiral might die on you. What I mean by this is that the plastic spiral might unspiral a bit or the front/back page might start to deteriorate overtime.

Spiral binding is epic, just as long as it isn't plastic. If it was plastic, then i'd keep to the current style

Yeah, the current ones are quite unhandy. Spiral would've been better.
