Studio End of year exam
spherelin:
Hi guys, seeing that our folio and essays are all in, i guess the main focus is the end of year exam!
I know that the exam always asks about processes, but I'm just wondering, will they always have a gelatin silver photograph to analyse?
Yendall:
I believe there will always be a form of photograph, not necessarily a gelatin photograph. There was one on last years exam and on my prac exam. Make sure you know the steps for creating gelatin photographs in detail. It's very important that you cover all steps.
From studying past exams I believe there will possibly be the following art forms:
* Oil Painting
* Acrylic Painting
* Sculpture
* Fabric
* Photograph
* DVD
* Wood Carving
* Projection
* Etching
* Aquatint
* Wax PrintingThere could be more, but there will always be a form of photograph in relation to your question. There has to be at least one to suit all forms of medium production.

My teacher has sort of left it up to me to research other forms of photography.
What is another method to produce photographs, that you think i should study?
Yendall:
I'd assume you'd need to know the methods of these:
* Black and White Photography
* Colour Photography
* Digital PhotographyEach of these genres of photography require a different methods, it could be using a dark room, poloroid productions, digital manipulation through the use of computers etc. etc.
I don't actually know these methods, as photography wasn't a medium I considered in my study. I would ask your teacher whether it would be suitable for you to write on, on the end of year exam. Examiners know the ins and outs of all mediums used, and if you don't know them in complete detail, the examiners won't give you full marks.
This year I used Oil Paint as my medium, and I know the process and methods in depth as to how to develop pieces, starting from the construction of the frames that hold the canvas material. You need to cover all steps in creating a photograph, including the anatomy of the camera used and how to process the image dependant on that camera.

Eugh, I'm also concerned for the exam. How harshly do you think they will mark it?
And what's the deal with moderating the folios? I'm really nervous in case my folio mark goes from something good to something shocking. Would ranking come into play with the folios or not?
