Hey guys,

The Monash lab for experimental economics (MonLEE) runs economics experiments on volunteers to try solve economic problems (and lets not lie, give these guys something to publish). Basically, you sit at a computer, in a room full of other computers, with screens between them (so no one can see what you do) and do certain tasks or play economic 'games'.

To encourage participation and make you actually put effort into the experiment, they pay you. The amount of money you make in the experiment is the amount of money they give you, so, the better you do and try to do, the more money you get paid. Most experiments usually have problems with gathering participants as well, so, you probably will be helping out in some way.

The longer the experiment, the more you'll get paid usually. Depending on how well you do, its usually $20-60 but it can go higher if you do really well or its a longer experiment. They're usually a fair bit under an hour in duration.

People should participate on a strictly voluntary basis anyway (more of these here http://www.monash.edu.au/news/notices/latest), i have occasionally but the money does help in getting participants and its fairly crucial to an economics experiment after-all.

They usually run experiments around this time of year as well, so i thought id give you guys a heads up.

You can register here (http://app.buseco.monash.edu.au/eco/orsee/public/). Here are some examples of past experiments from one of the professors that run it (http://users.monash.edu.au/~nfelt/monlee/experiments.html). Here is a tad more info (http://users.monash.edu.au/~nfelt/monlee/signup.html)
