So if someone went through primary appraisal and appraised the situation as a challenge which has a potential for personal growth, would it stop there or would they still go through secondary appraisal and what would happen?

I'm by no means 100% sure but I still believe that they would go through and use secondary appraisal as even if there is potential for personal growth you still have to some how appraise your coping resources. Eg if you've you have appraised losing your job as a challenge as you hated the job and can find another job you would prefer, you still have to go through the process of finding resources to find another job

Hope this helps
