Prac Report Question Help?

Hey guys

i need help with a question, lol

1. Why were hazardous chemical reagents and product waste disposed of in the sink rather than being disposed of in an appropriately labelled chemical waste bottle?

Some Background Info: Conducted a prac where we reacted different chemical compounds in order to form our very own (general) solubility rules, which we then compare with the theoretical solubility rules. We did throw the products in the sink, but i have no idea why...

What kind of reagents are we talkign here? Strong? Weak? Acid or base? Different variables can be applied in this case, where a weak acid can be neutralised when mixed with water in a drain pipe, thus not causing major threats to wildlife and the envirionment.
