I'm confused as to how the answer is 86%.

Since we're not given the number of animals in each category isn't it impossible to determine the answer?

It's easy to see if you look at the percentage bar charts they provide with the question!

The question is asking for the "high exposure to danger" category which is the far right one, and then the key shows you the "below average" section is the darkest shading.

Then if you look at the percentage it's closest to 86%

Hope this helps! :)
If you think you can, you can. If you think you can't, you can't.

Just take the graph for face value. Further Maths is designed to be simple so try not to over-think questions.

but it says "The percentage of animals whose exposure to danger during sleep is high, and whose chance of attack is below average,"

Since it says the percentage of animals whose exposure to danger during sleep is high, and, isnt that implying that they want the percentage of all animals who satisfy both those conditions?

Yes, I also interpreted it like that too initially. :P Let's hope that the question is worded better in tomorrow's exam! :)

I hope so too :S Can't believe they didn't address that in the assessment report either.
