If you did T*U, it would give the Vince Rev and Rani took too all fix photocopiers at each of the locations, then Fax machines, then Scanners, etc. (because you take the first row of the first matrix, and multiply it by each column of the second matrix). If you do it with U first then T, it gives what the question is asking for. (Time vince takes to fix all machinery at A, then Nev, then Rani. Next Row would be The same at location B). I hope that made a little bit of sense.

Whatever the column represents in the first matrix should be the same as whatever the rows represents in the second matrix.

Hey mate. What the question wants you to find is a matrix which displays the time for Vince to service School A as element 1,1, and School B as element 2,1 and School C as element 3,1 and the same for Nev and Rani.

So for the first entry we want (element 1,1) is going to be: (12 x 5) + (8 x 3) + (20 x 2).
This is the same as multiplying the first row of matrix U by the first column of matrix T. Therefore, to get the matrix that displays the times for Vince, Nev, and Rani to service School A, B and C we need to multiply matrix U by matrix T.
Therefore, the correct answer should be C. (Only 19% of the state got this right apparently :O).
Hope I helped :)

Would the column = row method work for all questions like this?
