Music performance day

Hi guys,
Just a quick question. Do we need to bring the original scores of our music to the actual performance, like AMEB exams, or do we just play????

I was listening to a friend do a practice performance the other day and the music teacher who has also been an examiner said you'd lose marks if you look at them

No scores required for the examiners. You just present your recital. They are interested in your performance. Most likely, the examiner will know your pieces anyway.

Btw saheh, its totally acceptable to use music in a performance exam. Most students play from memory but I have known many who have used music for some pieces. It looks better if you have memorised the music of course - but this depends on the instrument/style. For piano and to a lesser extent, violin, there is a greater expectation that the music is memorised due to greater competition. For example, students playing clarinet and wind instruments are more likely to use music in their exam although it is becoming less common nowadays. So I wouldn't say its a matter of 'losing marks' for memorisation. Its more about 'gaining marks' if you have memorised the music.
