Well I'd really love to study neuroscience and I feel a bit more secure about doing at major in neuroscience in terms of having a future in that field, rather than something like biology or physiology at Monash which has been suggested by others since I wasn't able to apply to UoM. Unfortunately I didn't choose to do vce chemistry or biology as I didn't expect Behavioural Neuroscience to be taken off the course at Monash which I was initially hoping to do.
Monash has neuroscience! Taught by the excellent Ramesh Rajan too (one of the highest rated teahchers in the university, got a bunch of teaching awards, working on a bionic eye).
It's just managed by the physiology department. If i call an orange an apple, it doesn't become an apple, its still an orange. Same idea here.

If UoM is anything like monash, all you really need is first year biology. Most of the first year subjects are insanely general and are called things like "Biology" "Physics" "Chemistry".
They're essentially a generalist course of the kind youd get at VCE (as opposed to like focusing on microbio or organic chem or something).

Edit: Important - ReadIn past years, they had a chemistry unit that was pretty much VCE (some say easier even). I know plenty who did it.
