Significant Figures

What the f**k is the deal with them? To clarify, is it TWO significant figures?

So if you have an answer of 7143, it would become 7.1x103, right?

I've even seen answers where you get something like 230, and the answer is 2.3x102. What about THAT?

And if you calculate 29.52, you would write the answer as 30, correct?

See, that's exactly what i'm talking about lol. Can't there be a consensus, and we just stick to that. Just like g = 9.8 m/s^2 and g = 10 m/s^2. Sure, VCAA says it's 10, but that doesn't stop textbooks and checkpoints from using 9.8.

Yeah, I'd ignore the ones that use 9.8, just use 10 whenever you see them heh

Most solutions to exams do 2 significant figures.
Personally, I usually do 3, dunno if I should change though.

Unless it stipulates otherwise, I would recommend 2.
3 is good though if there's a 'carry-on' question that requires this answer to be reused, because your answer to the carry-on question will be more accurate.
