Answers that overlap

For many sections of this legal course, I've found that some answers kind of overlap in the sense that they can be used for other sections of the course even though it isn't stated in the textbook...
For example, the reasons why laws need to be changed - advancement in technology
With reasons why laws need to be INTERPRETED, could you use that same reason?
and vice versa, saying that laws need to be changed because the meanings of words change over time...

Also with things such as reforms to our JURY system and for an effective legal system...
They may overlap as well?

I think you should be able to repeat them, like the technology example you used.
As long as you explain them properly (e.g. why technological change requires legislative change, and why technological change requires interpretation of statutes).

However if you do try and use different examples for these things, it shows the examiner you know more and you're different. Though you won't lose any marks from it I wouldn't imagine.

You're right. No marks would be lost for repeating examples, but in terms of ranking you're likely to be ranked above someone with the same score if you have more of a variety (and use) of examples.

oh yeah sorry I wasn't clear but it was more as in...can the example 'words change over time' be used for reasons why laws need to change beacuse in the book it doesn't state that i think? It's stated under the reasons why judges may need to interpret the law but if you think about it logically it could also be used for why laws need to change

It's not the answer I'd use, but it would make sense. The best answers IMO are the ones that can be accompanied with clear and recent examples. Do you have an example to back up your answer? Don't stress if you don't, it's just an add-on that can make for a better-looking answer, not necessarily something that gives you better marks on the exam paper.

Hahaha, well here's one you may be interested in (I find it easy to remember): as society's views and values change, parliament creates changes in the law to reflect these values (based on the principle of representative government, naturally). An example of this involves the implementation of the Abortion Law Reform Act 2008 (Vic.), which basically reflected society's view that people should have more of a right to freedom of choice. Just go with the examples that you know best at the end of the day though, cramming in too much usually doesn't (based on my own experience) make for a good exam score. :P :D
