Corporate Cultue

Not long to go now!!

So anyway, another question. I was doing an Engage practice exam and one of the questions was about the official corporate culture and the real corporate culture.
I have never heard of them before. Should I actually know all about them in detail or just a basic gist of it or nothing at all because it's irrelevant?

Thanks guys.

never seen this in past vcaa exams (02-11) so probably irrelevant.
But real quick, official corporate culture is basically the policies put in place (written aspects)
Whereas real corporate culture is what really happens on a day to day basis (tangible aspects).

So for example, your schools official corporate culture might state "we are 100% sun-smart school"
but in reality not 1 person wears hats or sun-tan cream in the summer.

To expand on what anstone said

Official - What you see written in the mission statement, the written clarification of how the business intends to portray itself to the public, so often very positive.
Real - How the employees within the organisation ACTUALLY behave - quite different to 'official' as the real corporate culture is influenced by a number of factors (management style, work conditions, opportunity, training, etc) and it reflects the true 'colours' or values if you like of employees.

Ideally, an organisation intends to have the two portray the same image, you'd be shocked if a business instead of upholding their mission of "providing informative, polite responses to consumers", were rather poorly instructed and told consumers where to go ;)

lol you see it all the time. @ officeworks "Our goal is to fully integrate environmental responsibility into every facet of our operations."

WHen I was in there, there was a lady asking where to find recycled paper. The employee tried to help but gave up and said "we're officeworks, we care about destroying the environment, not saving it."

Haha, that's brilliant!

I love when you're walking through the counter area, and they'll politely ask "do you want an eco friendly bag?", "no", to which they'll admit, "yeah, they're pretty bad quality" lol
