Bound Reference

My bound book has perforated pages in it. I don't want to have to tear out all the pages and bind them, so can I just put tape over the perforated line of each page to make sure that each page is permanently bound to the spine? Would this be classified as being bound?

Should be fine. As long as when shaken they don't fall out of the book

Nope, they won't. So why aren't perforated pages allowed in the first place? It's not like they're going to fall out when someone shakes the book.

I'm guessing because you could easily rip the pages out and pass them around or drop them everywhere or something. Not sure.

(also split the bound ref discussion from the question thread)

Seriously, take out all the pages and bind them properly, follow the rules and you'll stay out of trouble.

I never get why students always try to push and bend the rules and purposely go and do things which are in the grey area.

It doesn't matter - but essentially what laseredd said, they don't want you being able to "silently" tear pages.

Seriously, bind your book properly or at least be ready to do your exam without it.

Hahah, it's a grey area, I always wore my watch, nobody said anything :P
::)

In any case though, I do agree with what Paul initially said.  Officeworks is open till 9pm tonight, if you rip all the perforated sheets out (do it yourself, you'll take care of it, Officeworks wont) and get it bound tonight you won't have anything to worry about.

That was because it was accidental, I always forgot to take my watch off because when they were reading out stuff saying watches off...etc. I was always doing stuff like arranging my pens on the table and adjusting my chair + table and all that, there is a difference between forgetting and purposely bending the rules. But either way, look at the consequences, if they see me with my watch on, all they'll do is tell me to take it off and place it on the table (which happenned to me during one of my exams), but if your bound ref. isn't up to scratch, they won't let you take it in.

Yeah, I agree, just get it bound tonight, or tomorrow morning is OK as well I guess :P

The problem is that I wrote my notes over the perforated lines, so that's why I can't tear them out. But by putting tape over them, I'm essentially making each page a permanent page, right? Surely that's allowed?

Yes, you're allowed to tape over them. On both sides of the page, and every page. Even the blank ones, but you could just tear these out.

Is it necessary to do it for both sides? I've only done it for one side, but you can't tear out each page nonetheless.

I'm not sure if you have to, and they'll probably be fine with having one side taped. That's just what my teacher at school told somebody before the methods paper 2 just to be safe. If it were me I'd be doing both sides to be sure.
