In all honesty, I didn't use the textbook at all (took it to class once, did about 5 questions from it throughout the year) and ended up with a 40+ raw score in physics. It isn't essential.

My teacher provided us with a booklet of notes for each topic (and then a booklet of exam questions arranged per topic), but I felt that I could never concentrate in class, so had to do a lot of the work at home. I bought the Heinamein textbook because its a little more detailed in explanation.

Shops like Academic and General sell a few second hand stuff, but best bet would be to look in Selling and see if anyone is selling anything physics related. You'll probably find it at a cheaper price and might also be also to get study-notes and other stuff early on too :)

Not kidding, and I didn't have any natural talent in the subject and/or a good teacher either.

If I were you I would throw my textbook into the rubbish bin? I taught myself 'special relativity' from Einstein's original papers...I read 'Einstein Heroes' to understand the conceptual ideas of elecromagnetism. So if you would like to learn not the maths but ideas, the textbook is unnecessary...but if you would like to solve extra questions, just buy one of Neap's study guide.

VCE Physics consists of three main things:
1) Basic fundamental concepts - you can get these things from wikipedia, summary notes...etc.
2) Know how to explain stuff - practice exams are your friend + ATARNotes Study Guide
3) Know how to use equations and your calculator - again practice exams + ATARNotes Study Guide are your friends

Summary - no textbook is really required.
