Hello! :) I have my year 11 exam in a week and I'm doing some practice exams. I got a really low mark on my last exam. Just wondering if any of you could give me some feedback on my answers for one question?
... Also how would i answer a question about legal and ethical considerations?
Thanks heaps :D
1. Select two gallery professions from the list below and discuss their roles in preparing and presenting and exhibition you visited this year
Curator
Exhibition designer
Education Officer
Curator
The curator of Monash Art Gallery was Stephan Zagala. Stephan played an important role of managing the galleries permanent collection and making sure he has a record of all artworks which are on loan and will be exhibited. He was also responsible for cataloguing artworks and creating the catalogue as well as researching artists and artworks that were intended to be displayed as in the gallery each artwork had a description about the piece and what materials had been used.
Exhibition designer
The aim of an exhibition designer is to expand the public's understanding of art.
When it comes to preparing and presenting an exhibition, the exhibition designer in Monash Art Gallery is responsible for the organization of the gallery space and layout of where each artists and their work will be placed. The exhibition designer put together layouts and floor plans, extra movable walls were also added for more space, the seating and placement of all artworks. The exhibition designer then takes care of painting the walls and printing of information in the gallery. Colours were to be considered such as darker coloured walls in the gallery were to set a despairing mood while lighter coloured walls represented a more brighter mood.
Education Officer
The education officer in Monash Art Gallery was Stephanie Richter, her goal was to expand the public’s understanding of art. She developed programs about the current exhibition and provided booklets and brochures with full information on the gallery. This information included conservation and presentation considerations and a list of all the artworks presented in the current exhibition. She had given a tour around the exhibition, and speaking of how the exhibition is created and what roles are used including wall placements and colours used. Stephanie also allowed schools into the storing room and explained to students how different artworks are stored.
