It can be redox or oxidation or fermentation or even anaerobic respiration!

thanks TT.

i read the question again and the context is (at the very start of qst):
flowers produce nectar ... contains glucose and sucrose.
therefore, that does mean that yeast will be abesent hence fermentation isnt considered an ans.?

cheers :)

I'm not sure whether the flower thing is relevant, since the question's just saying that the sugar from plant nectar can be turned into alcohol, but the plant itself doesn't do this as far as I know. So fermentation might be correct, but it's probably not a universal answer for all situations involving glucose oxidation. As for anaerobic respiration, that's actually wrong. Fermentation and anaerobic respiration are two separate processes.

Yea, /0 put anaerobic respiration for his answer in trial exam and teacher marked it correct. :\

Not surprised your chem teacher didn't know since it's more of a bio thing and I only found out this year, but yeh, they are actually two different processes =\ Have a look at the equations here for 'real' anaerobic respiration and you'll see what I mean.
