Words/Student Number VCAA exams front page?

In the front page of the VCAA exams there is a block of cells where you are supposed to put your student number (denoted by "Figures" in front of the series of cells). On top of this, below this row of cells is another row of cells. I am not sure what to put in this row of cells, all that I have been given so far by my school is my student number and I know I have to put this on the top of the block of cells. What am I supposed to write in the row of cells followed by "Words"? Does anyone understand? I am having trouble explaining my problem....well hopefully somebody will understand all this.

Any clarification on the above will be appreciated!

Write the number in words

For example:

248049

"Two" "Four" "Eight" "Zero" "Four" "Nine"

etc

Oh...okay thanks guys. Though I think they should give us more room to write the numbers...my handwriting is normally quite big. Ah well...I guess I'll have to bare with it.

Would it be okay to write them in pencil?

The real purpose of those boxes is for verification purposes (to make sure they put the marks from that paper correctly to the person who did it). So if you do go over the lines slightly, that's not too bad.

For my exam last year, I did it in pencil (including writing my student number) and it still got processed.

I agree with what Glockmeister said.  Writing your student number is for verification purposes.  VCAA wouldn't care if you wrote it in pen or pencil.

do we need to memorise the number or can we bring it on a slip of paper and then throw it out.

That said, if you memorise it you'll waste less time filling out the form.
