Monash - Studying Overseas

Hi, I'm thinking of taking a gap year next year to travel before starting my degree at Monash, but have also been considering the possibility of going straight to university, and studying overseas for a semester in my second year. I have a few questions I'm hoping someone can help me out with:

1. How easy is it to get approval to do it? On the site it says you need to have "your overseas study plan approved by your faculty or school (or both faculties if a double degree) so that you receive credit towards your Monash degree"... is this hard? I'll be doing a business and arts double degree.

2. How easy is it to get the Monash Abroad Travel Scholarship? From what I can read on http://www.monash.edu.au/study-abroad/outbound/financial/monash-abroad-travel-scholarship/ it sounds like everyone who meets eligibility requirements (just be approved to go) gets one. Is this true?

3. I was thinking it would be cool to do the overseas study, then deferring for 6 months so I can do a bit of travel while I'm already in Europe. Is that even possible?

Thanks for taking the time to read this!!
