Is it fine to do English 3/4 without doing unit 1/2?

I was just wondering if it is fine to do 3/4 English without doing Unit 1/2? I chose English Language before, but now I'm sort of disliking the subject, and thinking to change to English instead...will I be fine doing 3/4 English without doing Unit 1/2?

Has anyone also done this?

You should be fine! Just make sure you gain an understanding of how things are assessed, through reading the study design and assessment reports, and you'll quickly adapt.

It can be done. Both my family friend and my brother originally only did literature in year 11 and then did both English and literature in year 12. Maybe just talk to the English coordinator about forms of assessment and things like that.

Ok thanks! So how much catch up would there be, and is it still possible to get above 40 or 45?

It is possible to get above 40 without the 1/2. My brother jut finished this year and got a 49, so proud of him!   :D

Of course you can potentially get a 50.
Just improve your vocab, start writing essays early. Like start of 2013 if you are keen and upload those to AtarNotes we'll do the rest haha

You can definitely do that! My knowledge of English as a subject was next to nothing at the start of this year and I scored in the mid-forties range :). Really the only necessities are a good vocab and good control of the language, little things like basic essay structure could be learnt from one post from a good ANer :). I think you should do it, if you don't like EngLang.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

ok thanks! and congratulations! I just asked the teacher, and she says that the English classes are now very full, and depends on whether other students want to change out. (CRY). I don't know what to do, should I study both Englishes now? (=.=')

I'm pretty sure a school can't deny you subject because of a class being too full, especially with something like English that is essential. Just push for it if that's what you want and I'm sure it will all work out  :)

Unfortunately, the teachers said that all classes are full and I can't go in unless another student drops out =.=' (annoyed)

is there anything else I can do?

Seems bizarre that an Australian school would deny someone a spot in English !

Fight like there's no tomorrow. I did (and failed) with Italian but at least future VCE students at my school won't be stranded half way through VCE. Write a letter to the principal outlining your disappointment and frustration and see where that gets you.

Study through correspondence if you really really want to do it if all else fails after pushing for it?

In any case I would now do English if I'd be you, if it fails at your school you could potentially do it through distance education. Maybe in that way you would even be able to choose the books. If I'd be you I'd defs pick, Interpreter of Maladies for Section A, but well I'm not sure if thats actually possible.

So fight for your spot if you want, but now I'd actually prefer doing it through distance ed, work my ass of, get 45+, get a newspaper to write an article about you and your situation.
You'd completly embarres the heads of your school haha
