Wow, a lot has happened in the past 24hrs and i havent been able to login, but i'd like to apologise for my seemingly "horrible" words towards a certain member or to anyone else who feels offended, in which i believe it largely influenced the decision of locking the thread temporarily. I'd like to make it clear that i understand and would've accepted slinkykitty & InNeedForHelp's apology publicly regarding unnecessary downvotes, however, was unable to do so.

Oh, and now that the Class of 2014 has finished VCE, this thread has been moved to the "Forum Games and Casual Chat" board along with the Class of 2013 thread.

Couldn't we stay where we were until ATARs? Kinda seems a bit unnecessary. Now we can't upvote/downvote either?

yup I don't see how the whole class of 2014 needs to be punished for the thoughtless actions of a few. The us vs them mentality reflects a minority. It's like removing the whole UOM chat/locking it because some guy decided to be a dick there by excluding a Monash guy for no reason. It simply makes no sense - I have seen chunks of UOM chats that were unproductive moved to public recycle bin, I think that would have been more appropriate in our scenario.

That went by so quick! Has anyone else just not been thinking about results day? Like I haven't thought about it in ages. Not because I'm repressing it - it just doesn't cross my mind...

I envy you! haha

I wish I could just forget about results day (would be the best), but every once in so often I just remind myself of it and... ah the pain of waiting! What makes it worse is that I also have occasional dreams about getting a bad ATAR... So sad.

MAKE IT STOP!!!!

Yep I worked at Target for three years in menswear :) PM me if you have questions :P

Yeah but the mod said that we've been moved because the class of 2014 is 'finished'. Plus there were around eight or nine who downvoted his post so I guess locking it was fair enough, but to move it here where we can't upvote/downvote and see each other's 'respects' is a bit weird.

And re ATARs... I'm more worried about feeling negative than I am about not feeling extremely positive (if that makes sense). I'm worried that I won't achieve my overbearing goal of 90+ but at the same time I won't be super upset if I don't get the 93/94+ that I need. I dunno. Plus my family/friends will make it all worse (if it goes badly)... people are already asking what I got (even though results aren't out) and seem to care way more than they should. Some people do actually care and are just interested in how I did, whereas others it's kinda like... why do you need to know

Edit: oh and I think my post count has been nerfed because the majority of my posts were in the old thread so people now think I'm a 'newbie', even when they look at my guide etc. Not that it really matters but still.

Not trying to start anything, but I don't think one should lock a thread by the number of downvotes on ONE post, especially when what the guy said was a bit sensitive. Also, eight or nine is a minority.

The said mod was obviously annoyed by a user who presumed he had the right to speak on behalf of us by saying "fight us mod" and decided to lock the whole thread when it was that user (and a small minority's) fault only.

Yeah and he said fight 'me' anyway. I agree, it would've been better to block individual members or give everyone another warning. So much for freedom of speech, I mean I know that this a public educational forum with rules etc but at the same time, I don't see why a thread has to be locked because of one truly vicious comment and a few minor ones (you're right, there were 8/9 upvotes on his but that isn't a majority). The person in question could've just ignored it and moved on.

I apologise for the misquote - was not intentional.

Look, I'm happy to lock it again if you don't want to post in here without being able to upvote and downvote. That function is no longer necessary for this thread. It is intended to govern the tutoring system, which is intended to be a (quite loose) reflection of tutoring ability. Eg - Look at the people on the first page, scan their posts, and you'll see how much effort they've put in (Bcubed on the Math thread, TT in math, etc). If you want upvotes, go and help some Year 11s academically. I can pick a few posts in this thread alone that would get upvoted undeservedly - heavy breath (+50 upvotes) - "ATARs are soon!" (9000+ upvotes) etc. It's not necessary, it's not coming back.

If you think you're being oppressed or believe that ATAR Notes is now a horrible place, you have options to appeal. Please direct all your appeals to [email protected]

(Hint: all appeals will be unsuccessful, people who continue to be annoying and complain will just be dealt bans the length of numbers I pull out of a hat). Fyrefly just wrote a beautiful and elegant post to tell you to act your age and move on, so do it.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

Just back from cricket! I played pretty well today! Was my second game back post VCE, and I'm much more confident after this game!! Gonna work my ass off every single day and keep up the good form!!

Plus I find working hard in a sports, whether its footy/soccer/cricket  is easier/better than studying. It's so awesome when you're running around and all these good hormones are released. And then when you're training is done a nice cold shower feels so rewarding. What do you guys think??
