Nah, your score is scaled according to the year you took the subject

Oh ok, though that too. My friend seemed totally convinced that the scaling isn't fixed until after Year 12, but whatever.

All depends on the subject. I did Environmental Science (obviously an easier choice) and got A+, A, A+ which only gave me a SS of 33...
2013: Environmental Science
2014: English, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics
ATAR: 99.90
2015 - 2019; Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) @  Monash University

damn didn't know it was that competitive? weak cohort? How high was the A+? since in some years a A+ in maths could be anywhere from 75 to a 90 cut off.

I think it's because not many people do environmental science. Just guessing. And hence only a small about of people can get above 40 in enviro, and those people got higher a+s than crystal
2013-2014:| VCE
2015-2018:| Bachelor of Science (Neuroscience) @ UoM
2019-X:| Doctor of Dental Surgery (discontinued)
2019 -2021:| Master of Physiotherapy

Currently: Physiotherapist working at a musculoskeletal clinic. Back pain, sore neck, headaches or any other pain limiting your study? Give me a PM (although please do see your personal health professional first!)

Any questions related to pathways towards studying dentistry or physiotherapy? Gimmi a PM!

I had a look at the grade distribution and only 49 students out of 604 received an A+ which approximately falls within the top 8% of the state. Must be extremely competitive then, if one tries to break the 40s
2014 ATAR: [99.20]
VCE English positions have been booked out for 2015.
2015: BCom/LLB @ Monash University

letter grades have wild discrepencies in what scores they give you, so dont take anecdotal evidence too seriously. i had heard people get A+ A A+ and get well over 40, i got A+ A+ A+ and got a 41 (i thought it was a bit low for all A+)
meh

Yeah guys. I come from a very weak cohort being from a rural school (next closest VCE school is 60 km away, so my school isn't very 'elitist' so to put it).
I have no idea about GA 3 but GA 1 was 92/100 and GA 2 was 86/100...

Yeah well I'm failing Further Maths and recently practice SACs etc... In fact, I am actually decreasing in improvement. E.g. 7/13 in multiple choice, 6/13 and then 5/13. Short answer seems to be a slight improvement, but I'm still failing that as well.

Should be doing more practice, but confidence is just shot.

Likewise. I seem to be within a spasmodic nexus of determination and defective aptitude.

The correlation between numbers of hours worked and marks acquired is appallingly incomprehensible.

Don't lose motivation! We're at a stage of this year where we're being bombarded with SACs, let alone the mere thought of exams which are rapidly approaching! We're going to start doubting ourselves, and it's important to remember that we've got a little bit to go and then we're done. Let's make the 13 years of education count, so that on 15 Dec, we can say 'it paid off'! We're all in the same boat! You can do it! In less than 5 months, it'll all be done!!

It's a good point. But I cannot stop thinking of VCE... Haven't worked overly hard recently either on purpose. The uncertainty of the ATAR, potential courses planned going astray. For some reason I've got a politics exam document open in the slumber of night. Priorities...

The weird thing is, is that I'm aiming high (90+) but the course I've been wanting to do for the past two years is a 72. I don't just want to scrape in, but at the same time I think aiming high might just be putting a little bit too much pressure on myself that's out of proportion.

I was at an 18th last night and one of my friends who was there who is also aiming high said his goal for unit 4 was to take more time out for himself to keep things in proportion. I think I'm going to adopt this too, starting today by myself and some old friends from primary school going out for brunch.
