TAFE to ANU, eligible for academic merit scholarship?
Art Vandelay:
maybe you could gain a scholarship/admission through a negotiated offer in 2013, if formal applications are closed through UAC by now?

I am new here so I will summarise my situation:
- completed TPC at TAFE with perfect 300 score (equivalent atar 99.95)
- live in Sydney
- under 21
basically I have recently discovered ANU's PhB science degree and would love to study it, but unfortunately I didn't submit an application (didn't know of the course's existence until a few weeks ago) and so will probably go for the B Science (Adv)(Honours) and then transfer in.
Obviously I will have to move to Canberra and live on campus, but it's proving very difficult financially for me to do so without some extra money.
Does anybody know if I will be eligible for merit scholarships (such as the anu national university scholarship) based upon my TPC results? The eligibility section of the scholarship's policy document seems to indicate that I would be (as TPC is a Year 12 equivalent course), but at the same time it is slightly ambiguous:
"(b) has completed their Year 12 or equivalent qualification within the last two years and
achieved excellent results as converted to an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of
99.90 or above (no bonus points);"
Any insight that member here could provide would prove to be very helpful for me right now; I am trying to sort out my UAC preferences by the main round deadline 4th jan, and of course the ANU scholarships office is closed until the 3rd!

If you already applied via UAC, you dont need to apply for this scholarship as ANU will automatically consider for you
Btw, I dont know much but if you study TAFE but is it considered as tertiary program?
Because they said that "Applicants must be completed Year 12 or equivalent in 2012 or completed Year 12 or equivalent in 2011 and did not enrol in a tertiary program in 2012."
But as everyone advised, you should contact ANU to confirm
galapagos:
Nope it is not a tertiary program, at least according to TAFE.
Anyway, it is not the end of the world if I don't get into this degree. As I said on whirlpool, I think I might be more suited towards engineering/science with a greater hands-on component :)
Thanks for your replies.

lol I remember I read your post on whirlpool forum :p
But if you get those scores, you have a pretty high chance to get scholarships so dont hesitate to contact ANU and ask them :)
galapagos:
I found out today that I am ineligible :( A shame, considering how hard I've worked and the discrimination I have faced to get where I am. Not particularly encouraging for those who cannot finish high school and have to seek other paths to enter uni!
