La Trobe Dentistry

I just have a couple of questions, since I'm finding the information on Google to be quite conflicting. This is for the 2014 intake by the way.

1. Is the UMAT required for this course?
2. Is there an interview process?
3. What ATAR should I be aiming for?
4. Is the course fully accredited, and if not, when will it be accredited?
5. Is entry into the second part of the course guaranteed?

Thanks. :)

According to
http://www.latrobe.edu.au/courses/dentistry
- http://www.latrobe.edu.au/handbook/2012/undergraduate/bendigo/health-sciences/hzhsdd.htm

1. Only for non-yr12 applicants
2. "Applicants may be required to attend an interview.", so "maybe"?
3. 98.40 was the last clearly-in, but you'd want 99+ to be safe
4. "The course currently has first, second, third and fourth years of the program accredited. The fifth year submission has been tendered for accreditation by the Council. The Department of Dentistry and Oral Health is on track with this accreditation process."
5. Probably

What pi said, but
2. I heard it is only if you are scraping it in, then they use an interview to decide between applicants
3. From memory this was the cut off from over offering but after they offered deferred places the cut of is actually 99.1. I would aim higher as the cut off has been raising over the years. Last year they dropped a bit because they increased the number of places.
4. I think even 5th year is accredited now? But I wouldn't worry so much about accreditation
5. Yes it is.

In regards to cut offs I would aim for 99+ for sure because after they stuffed up last year they are sure to raise it to ensure they don't do it again.

COME STICK ITS AN AWESOME COURSE :D

Was it the same subject for all 6-7? Does this mean they can't go on to the next year until they've done that subject?

tom, I would assume so as it is probably a 2nd yr prerequisite.

Well I'm starting to think about pursuing special-needs dentistry (I won't go into the story because it'll probably bore you :P) but obviously I am now considering taking this course. :)
