Mid-Year Indicative Marks

Ok well after the mid-year practice exams the teachers send the VCAA your indicative mark. My question is – does this somehow potentially affect what study score/enter score you can get.

I’m just a bit concerned because I haven’t studied for my mid-year exams because I have sac components to each subject which I have primarily been concentrating on. So I’m not going to do very well on my mid-years other than my sacs.

Hopefully the teachers don’t look at my exam mark and send that off as the indicative mark when I’ve performed well in SAC’s throughout the entire year.

But if we were to assume that they sent of a shitty indicative mark – how could this affect my study scores and enter score?

indicative grades are only used if you apply for a derived exam score or if your actual exam mark is substantially lower than the indicative grade and they recheck your exam marking.

even if one of these situations occur, there's no certainty that they will take this indicative grade into consideration, especially if your teachers did not provide grades that resemble the spread of your cohort. and if it is used, it will only improve your mark.

IN SHORT - there is no need to stress about whether this will affect your SS or ENTER

Just to elaborate on that, I was told that if your exam mark was at least 2 grades lower than your indicative grade, then they re-check the exam.

And by two grades, I don't mean, A+, A, B+, B, etc.  I mean A+, B+, C+, D+, etc.  That's what I was told and I'm not sure about this myself.

Can some please confirm this?
